Bulawayo-based musician Sbonginkosi Sibanda is appealing for financial assistance as she battles a life-threatening heart condition that requires an urgent transplant in India this December.
Sibanda has been living with a rare heart disease known as Ultracet Heart Defect since 2019. She has already undergone three major surgeries in India and is now preparing for a heart transplant scheduled for 21 December 2025 at Fortis Hospital in Kalyan, Mumbai.
“I had my first surgery in 2023, and it was successful, but my doctors said my heart still needed a transplant. I had another operation this year and returned from India two months ago. I am now looking for a heart donor because the procedure is very expensive,” Sibanda said.

The artist explained that her condition requires regular medical check-ups to stabilise her heart and prevent complications.
“I visit my doctors frequently to manage my heart condition. My goal now is to raise US$40,000 to cover the cost of the transplant,” she said.
To help raise the funds, a fundraising concert will be held on 15 November 2025 at the Assemblies of God Church, located upstairs at Computer Village in Bulawayo.
“The event will run from 10am to 4pm, featuring performances by artists from across Zimbabwe who have pledged to support my cause. Anyone wishing to attend or donate can contact me on 0713 654 704,” said Sibanda.
The musician expressed hope that with support from the public and fellow artists, she will be able to undergo the life-saving operation and continue pursuing her passion for music. — CITE
