Marondera Suspected Serial Killer Rapist Nabbed

A SUSPECTED Marondera killer rapist has been arrested.

Bright Zhantali, allegedly behind a spate of murders and rape cases in the Mashonaland East provincial capital, was nabbed on Saturday after police gathered information that he was behind the crimes.

A police memo seen by NewsDay yesterday showed that Zhantali (30) was allegedly behind the murder of Mercy Simairi (28), Chipo Gwese (40), Betty Mlambo (43), Nelia Maringe (44), Meggie Kaomba (61), Patricia Tsoka (49) and an unidentified female aged between 35 and 40 in Marondera and Hwedza.

Zhantali, who hails from Chiweshe, is suspected to have committed the crimes between January 15, 2022 and last
Saturday.

Acting on that intelligence, police on Saturday arrested Zhantali, who allegedly admitted involvement in six of the seven cases and two more that were unreported.

The police are trying to locate another body in Macheke.

According to the memo, Zhantali also admitted committing murders in Rusape, Mutare and Nyanga.
