A 43-YEAR-OLD man from Old Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo punched the living daylights out of his girlfriend on suspicion that she was having an extra-marital affair with a neighbour.
Cosmas Baloyi appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mjanja facing a charge of physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
Moyo pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
Three months of the sentence were suspended for three years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining three months were suspended on condition that he completes 105 hours of community service.
The court heard that on 26 September 2022 Baloyi came home at around 5pm and accused his lover Nontobeko Ndlovu (33), of having an extra-marital affair with one of their neighbours.
Baloyi’s girlfriend denied having an illicit affair.
However, the green-eyed- monster had got total control of Baloyi and he went haywire.
He unleashed a brutal punch on top of her right eye.
Ndlovu, who sustained injuries, reported the matter to the police leading to Baloyi’s arrest. — BMetro
