A SELF-STYLED witchdoctor allegedly raped a 12 year-old girl under the guise of exorcising some evil spirits.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Master Ndlovu (49) of Gwelutshena, who left the minor unconscious, after raping her.
“Master Ndlovu approached the victim and told her that she was possessed and needed some cleansing before commanding the victim to remove all her clothes,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
“He smeared some substances on the complainant and gave her some powder to consume and she became unconscious.
“The suspect raped the victim and left her unconscious in a kitchen hut.”
In another case, a police patrol team in Bulawayo arrested Thembekile Ncube (42), at the corner of Leopold Takawira and Cecil Avenue.
The team reacted to a distress call by the victim in the suspect’s car.
Meanwhile, ZRP Mt Darwin arrested Misheck Matanga (34) and Tafadzwa Kaleso (23) in connection with cases of violence, which occurred at Rand 3 Mine.
Asst Comm Nyathi said the duo allegedly declared ownership of the mine before setting a makeshift hut on fire and attacking a security guard with an iron bar.
“Various valuable items, which include cash, clothes, blankets, solar panels and jack hammers were destroyed by the inferno,” he said.
