THE trial of 40 war veterans arrested last year while demanding a review of their monthly stipends has been set for April 11, after their application for exception was dismissed yesterday by Harare magistrate Barbara Mateko.
The magistrate moved the trial date to allow the State to amend its documents after dismissing their application.
The State accuses them of singing “revolutionary” songs after they were barred from handing over their petition at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Munhumutapa Building offices and Parliament.
They intended to march from Africa Unity Square to Mnangagwa’s office where they would submit a petition, asking for a review of their monthly stipends which are less than US$100.
