A FORM Four pupil aged 17 has appeared at the Bulawayo’s Tredgold magistrates’ courts for having sex with a Form Two pupil aged 14.
The teenage pupil from a secondary school in Lupane is accused of “having sex with a young person” after he allegedly slept with the pupil from a Bulawayo high school.
The accused pupil, who is also employed, is said to have met the girl, who happens to be his girlfriend, and taken her to his home at Greenspan Compound in Bulawayo after he had knocked off from work. When they arrived at his home, they had sexual intercourse.
The girl allegedly slept at the accused’s place and went home the following day. The matter came to light after the girl’s grandmother asked her where she had spent the night.
After she spilled the beans, the grandmother reported the alleged crime at Mzilikazi Police Station and the girl was taken for a medical examination.
The boy made his first appearance in court on 15 February and was granted $4 000 bail despite the State’s appeal for him to be remanded in custody.
He was ordered to report to Mzilikazi Police Station every fortnight on Fridays between 6am and 6pm until the finalisation of the matter and to reside at his given address.
The teenager is expected to appear in court on 18 March after the magistrate granted his wish to look for a lawyer and the State’s appeal to present amended submissions to deny him bail.
