RENOWNED Kadoma pharmacist and entrepreneur, Elison Tambudza was shot dead by unknown assailants Friday evening as he parked his vehicle in the car port upon returning home.
The incident occurred at around 20:30 hours at the now deceased’s residence situated at 2216 Jacaranda Drive, Westview, Kadoma in Mashonaland West province.
Police sources told NewZimbabwe.com that the motive of the cold-blooded killing of the 67-year-old pharmacist remains shrouded in mystery as all his valuable possessions, including vehicle with keys, cellphones and cash, were found untouched at the scene.
Circumstances are that at around 20:30 hours, an armed guard employed by Amark Security (Pvt) Limited, who was providing services at the premises, spotted two unidentified men scaling the precast perimetre wall.
It is said that before he could react to the intruders, the assailants pounced on the guard and tied his hands using shoelaces, and started interrogating him demanding to know what time Tambudza usually returns home from work.
“As the suspected robbers were interrogating the guard, Tambudza arrived at the gate aboard his white Toyota Land Cruiser registration number ACM0498 and one of the accused persons proceeded to open the gate.
“Without noticing anything suspicious, Tambudza drove straight to the carport, but as he was doing so, the guard managed to free himself, evaded the other accused person watching over him and rushed next door to seek help.
“The guard, who later became informant, said he heard two gunshots as he sought reinforcement from neighbours,” said the source.
Upon getting to the scene, informant and neighbours were reportedly shocked to find Tambudza’s lifeless body with gunshot wounds on the head.
Police details from Kadoma Central and Homicide detectives were notified, attended the scene and later conveyed the now deceased’s body to Kadoma General Hospital for postmortem.
The security guard has since been arrested and is assisting police investigations into the gruesome murder that has shaken the gold-mining city.
