A burglar who allegedly targeted female-headed households and unattended homesteads over a period of time was finally arrested by the ZRP Nyanyadzi on Friday, 7 November.

The suspect, Fungai Dhliwayo (31), is accused of stealing gas tanks, groceries, blankets, clothing and other goods from homes in and around Birchenough Bridge Growth Point.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed Dhliwayo’s arrest and the recovery of various stolen items, including kitchen utensils, clothes, shoes and blankets. It reads:

“On 07/11/25, Police in Nyanyadzi arrested Fungai Dhliwayo (31) in connection with a series of unlawful entry and theft cases which occurred at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point and surrounding areas.

“The suspect is linked to ten cases of unlawful entry and theft, in which he allegedly targeted female-headed households and unattended homesteads, stealing gas tanks, groceries, blankets, clothes and other goods.

“Police recovered various stolen items, including kitchen utensils, clothes, shoes and blankets hidden at the suspect’s hideout in a mountain near Birchenough Bridge.”
