FIVE Gokwe men are accused of killing a villager who allegedly stole two turkeys from a fowl run belonging to one of them.

Twoboy Ngwenya, John Mulotahwa, Benjamin Siamandada, Garikai Nzungu and Norest Ngwenya of Village Tinti 3, Masikiri area under Chief Simuchembo allegedly severely assaulted Shadreck Moyo (21) on February 22 resulting in his death the following day.

The case was reported at Nembudzia/Chitekete Police Post.

Allegations are that on National Youth Day, Twoboy noticed that two turkeys had been stolen from his fowl run, and he was informed by other villagers that Moyo was responsible.

The next day at around 8pm, Twoboy and the other four accused teamed up to hunt for Moyo, whom they intercepted on his way from Masikiri business centre.

It is reported that they tied his hands and began to assault him with logs until he confessed to the theft.

Twoboy then frogmarched Moyo to his father, Ranganai’s homestead and assaulted him in front of him, accusing him of harbouring a thief.

Twoboy then forced the now deceased and his 12-year-old young brother, Ranganai, for Savara village where one of the turkeys was recovered

On Friday, Moyo’s condition deteriorated and he died at home. Ranganai informed his father who reported the matter to the police.

Police details attended the scene and found Moyo’s body lying face up, with bruises and a cut on the side of his head.

Twoboy was arrested, while his four accomplices are currently on the run. — HMetro
